What can be expected from a New Patient Appointment?

At Dublin 18 Dental Rooms they recognise that there are patients who may feel nervous when it comes to attending an appointment at the dentist and they are therefore pleased to give you an idea of what you can expect when you come to see them for the first time.

When you first arrive you can expect to be welcomed by a friendly member of the team, and you will most likely be presented with a questionnaire to fill in. This forms part of the process of getting to know your personal dental and medical needs and in turn helps to inform the creation of your personal treatment plan. If you have any questions about this questionnaire, please do ask a member of staff in the area who would be pleased to assist you where possible.

Following this, you will be invited to meet your qualified dentist who will ask any additional queries they may have and discuss with you what you are hoping to achieve with your dental care. This could be anything from maintaining good oral health, to straightening your teeth. A thorough examination would then take place, sometimes utilising X-rays (for example where there are teeth which are yet to protrude, or where issues with the jaw are suspected). The dentist can be expected to look inside your mouth and assess what can be observed there, including gum health as well as teeth and looking into any work which you may have had done in the past. You can also expect to be offered an oral cancer screening test.

Any findings, or risk factors which may be identified in this appointment can be discussed, which also provides an opportunity for you to raise any queries you may have. You may wish to ask for advice about how to create a healthy oral hygiene routine. Your dentist may advise you to book further appointments if treatment is needed as a result of what is found at this examination. Of course, if the personal goals you have for your dental needs require further treatment, your dentist would be able to advise you as to whether a further appointment would be needed for these.

For those patients with dental phobia they are able to provide sedation where necessary. This practice knows that maintaining good oral health is essential to your dental wellbeing as well as your overall health. It is therefore their pleasure to provide a supportive environment to help any patient to attend the dentist and access the dental care they need.

How can I book an appointment?
